OARE (Online Access to Research in the Environment) is a public-private consortium designed to improve access to scientific research in low- and middle-income countries by providing high quality, timely, relevant, environmental and related sciences journals and other scientific content for free or at nominal cost. Lists of electronic journals and books are browseable by subject, title, or publisher.

Individuals cannot register for OARE, but your institution can. Check with your librarian or at the OARE registered institutions list. Once an institution is registered, all employees, staff, faculty, administrators and students of that institution should be provided the user name and password so that they may access OARE resources directly.

Not registered for OARE? Your institution might already be registered with one of the other Research4Life Programmes -- HINARI or AGORA. If so, it can register again for OARE using the Research4Life Programme regisration form. See the OARE eligibility criteria for more information.

Basic guidelines on how to access and use scholarly resources available through OARE are available on the 'Using OARE' page.
