Music discovery services with search capabilites without needing an account
- musicoverySuggests music based on defined "moods."
- MySpace MusicPopular music artists upload their own music to this site for you to discover.
- PandoraMusic experts determine the audio "genome" of each work of music, and based on your music requests, their program develops playlists of similar music.
- SoundcloudMusicians can upload, share, record, and promote their music on Soundcloud. Fans listen for free! As of 2016, you can also sign up for the paid ‘Soundcloud Go’ subscription service to access licensed streaming audio.
Other music discovery services
Many of these are radio-style services, with prechosen categories or stations of music and advertisements. Some also involve creating an account or an upgrade to a premium account with a monthly fee.
- emusicAn alternative to buying music via the Apple iTunes Store, emusic requires a membership to buy and download tracks or albums.
- Google Play MusicFree, curated radio with options to sign-up for the paid subscription service, giving you access to YouTube Red and upload of up to 50,000 of your personal music digital files for online access.
- iHeartRadioListen to artist radio stations, live radio, and get recommendations based on your activity (gym, studying, party, etc)
- SpotifyMusic streaming service with a six-month free trial period (or 48 hours for mobile), followed by limited free service with advertisements.
- Tunein.comLets you listen to existing stations across the US and the world.
