Davis Library Research & Instructional Services
How Can I Help You?
I am Coordinator of Liaison Services for subject librarians at UNC. I am also Librarian for American Studies, Folklore, Linguistics, Anthropology, and Archaeology at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Can you help me find articles, books, statistics and data on my research topic?
I provide in-depth, personalized research assistance via e-mail, phone, and chat for students and faculty. For complicated questions, I’m always glad to set up an appointment for an in-person consultation.
Can you purchase library materials for my research and/or teaching?
I purchase library materials for Davis Library in the following subject areas: American Studies, Folklore, Linguistics, Anthropology, and Archaeology. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with your purchase suggestions.
Can you help my class with a research assignment?
I teach discipline-targeted library instruction sessions to help students complete the research component of their assignment. I also create course-related web pages to highlight relevant research material for students. These classes and course pages are closely tailored to the needs of the students and the instructor’s learning outcomes. Please e-mail me and I’ll be happy to discuss your needs.
How can I speed up the process of saving and citing my research?
I can help you use RefWorks, EndNote, or Zotero. These tools allow you to save citations with a click and create a works cited list in seconds.
Can you inform me of new library materials that match my interests?
I can help you create electronic alerts that automatically notify you of new materials that match your interests. We can create alerts for specific authors, subject areas, journal titles and more.
Can you help me create a class project that will help my students develop strong research skills?
I’m always happy to discuss your ideas for research projects. I can suggest appropriate services (like a library-based session for students to create Web sites to display their work) and library materials (like archival material or specific books or databases) that allow students to engage with the process of research and scholarship.
Can you help me archive my research materials and publications?
The UNC Libraries continue to expand their resources for archival of research data and publications. Please contact me if you have research that you would like to safely archive.
