What is in this guide?

2013 marks the anniversaries of both the Emancipation Proclamation (1863) and the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (1963), the event at which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr gave his extraordinary "I Have a Dream" speech.  The Association for the Study of African American Life and History has chosen these two events for the theme of this year's Black History Month.
