Latin American Public Opinion Project: Introduction

The Latin American Public Opinion Project, hosted at Vanderbilt University, has been operating since the 1980s. Surveys are available for various countries for different years and may or may not have English translations.

Library Data Services

Library Data Services caters to researchers interested in working with data, mapping, texts, visualization, and technology. Many of these services are available online. Davis Library Data Services, located on the second floor of Davis Library, offers:

  • A computing lab with specialized software for GIS and data visualization & analysis.
  • Walk-in assistance provided by knowledgeable student consultants during set hours
  • Consultations with specialists for more in-depth inquiries (by appointment).
  • Spaces for collaboration and presentation, complete with white boards and external displays.
  • Technology short courses and programs that promote digital scholarship.

UNC-Chapel Hill researchers using these data must have fulfilled all IRB requirements.  Researchers may start their IRB applications with the Office of Human Research Ethics (see link below).  These data are licensed for educational use by UNC affiliates only and may not be shared with others or used for commercial purposes.

Countries included vary by year.  See the Download Site (linked on the last tab of this guide) for the files licensed by the University Libraries at UNC at Chapel Hill.
