Basic Functions in Premiere

This video provides an introduction to the basic functions of Adobe Premiere Pro.

Create a New Project in Premiere

Upon opening Adobe Premiere, you will be prompted to create a new project file.  Listed below are steps that can guide you through this process.

1)  Launch Adobe Priemere Pro by selecting the icon on the desktop dock.

2) Wait for the program to load, then click on the New Project icon.

3)  When this screen pops up:

Click on Browse…, then select Media Storage, click on your folder, then select Choose.

Once the pathway has been set up you can rename the project from untitled to something that you will be able to recognize.

4)  Click Ok.

5) On the next window that opens it will give you many options to choose from for the format in which to create the project.

For most of the video projects that you will be creating the DV options are fine.  If you shot your work with an HD camera (for example, the cameras available for checkout at the MRC) or you are capturing clips from a DVD, then choose the option that says “Widescreen 48kHz”.

If you are using a VHS or a non native widescreen video file to then select “Standard 48kHz”.

5)  Click Ok

Your project will open and you are ready to start editing!
