Identifying Plagiarism: Transparency

Transparency

Transparency

Another important concept in academic scholarship is transparency.

By being transparent in your work, you are attributing sources appropriately, using information responsibly, and demonstrating accountability for your own work.

In class, this means that the work you are turning in is your own and you have completed it without unauthorized aid to the best of your ability. It also means that you are making yourself available to criticism, which can help you improve your work.

By citing your sources, a reader (for example, your instructor) can more easily follow the logic that led you to your conclusions and which sources influenced your thinking.
