Safe at UNC Trainings

I am a cisgender white woman from a middle class background, and these privileges impact how I experience the world. I strive to be inclusive in my teaching, and I am learning to think critically about my privileges, assumptions, and implicit biases so I can better understand and support the needs of students, faculty, and staff.

I have undergone SafeZone, Mental Health First Aid, and Haven training at UNC to help me better provide support for LGBTQIA+ individuals, people developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis, and those who have experienced sexual assault, interpersonal violence, and/or stalking.  To learn about resources to support you at UNC or to sign up for these trainings, visit safe.unc.edu or the School of Social Work's Mental Health First Aid website.

Meeting with me

Hi there!

I am a librarian who helps clinical teams find the best resources to inform their clinical policies and practices.  As a kid, I wanted to be a detective because I loved finding evidence and solving mysteries, and in college, I learned I had a gift for helping others find articles for their papers, projects, and work.  Now I am here to help you find evidence to answer questions about clinical care!

I support clinical groups by performing searches and providing lists of relevant articles, building search strategies, designing and running systematic reviews, and teaching people how to search- just contact me and let me know what you need help with!

I am available for consultations by appointment.  Please use the button in my profile box to make your appointment.  If you have questions or if you want to request a different meeting time, please send me an email at emoreton@email.unc.edu with some days and times you are available so I can match up our schedules.  Please plan ahead, as it is difficult for me to do last-minute appointments!
