Streaming Music: Naxos

A guide to help you take full advantage of the streaming audio services available through the UNC Libraries

What's in Naxos?

If you are off-campus, you will need to authenticate using your Onyen.

You can also access Naxos and our other streaming audio products from here: Music Library homepage

Naxos smartphone app

As a UNC student, faculty, or staff you can use your smart phone to listen to Naxos Music Library playlists or browse and stream the full collection. Here's how:

  1. Download the free Naxos Music Library app from your app store.
  2. On a computer, visit the Onyen-authenticated UNC Naxos site here.
  3. Navigate to the "playlists" tab (notice that UNC has their own institutional playlists) and sign up for a Student/Member Playlist account.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email to the email address you used to sign up. Click the link in the email to confirm your account.

Now, you can log into your app with your Playlist account information.

This Youtube video (which applies to both iPhones and Android phones) can walk you through the process. This one from American University is funnier.

Personal and course playlists

On Naxos, you can make personal playlists after creating a Playlist account. For detail instructions on how to create playlists, see the .pdf document below.

If you are a faculty member and wish to create a course playlist, there are a few differences in the process. Please contact the Music Public Services Librarian (on right) for institutional login information and additional instructions.
