What's on this page?

This page includes one of each type of LibGuides content box suggested for use by UNC Libraries. The box types are:

      Links Boxes
      Multimedia Boxes
      User Input Boxes
      Miscellaneous Boxes
      System Content Boxes

Links and Lists

In this type of box, you can create lists of web links and non-web link items (unordered list).  FYI: "Links and Lists" and "Simple Web Links" are essentially the same.

A few films and movies I enjoy:

User Link Submission

In this box, a form allows users to submit links they feel would add value to the page.

Links are not visible until approved, and can be deleted by the Guide's administrator.

Dates & events

In this box, you can enter date(s), title, and URL (optional) to create list of upcoming events.

Books from the Catalog

A better name for this type of box would "Items from the Catalog" since you are not limited by type of material.  In this box, you can create links to any item in our Endeca or Classic Catalog.  Using the item's ISBN, you can link to a cover art image for that item as well.

Embedded Media

Using a bit of code, you can embed an audio or video link into this type of box.

Here's the code I entered to embed the video below...

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" style="width:400px; height:300px;" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/pE0-BFEermc"></object>

Interactive Poll

Into which of the four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would you want the Sorting Hat to place you?

Delicious Tag Cloud

With a valid delicious username, this type of box will automatically link to that user's account and display a tag could.

RSS Feed

In this box type, paste the link to an RSS feed to display news and updates from a website.

Survey

Survey Boxes allows for multiple questions and more answer options than Interactive Polls.  Create a survey of form in the Surveys/Forms tab from your My Admin page, then add it to the box in your guide.

Documents & Files

Using this box type, you can upload files for other users to download.  Individal file size limit is 5MB.

User Feedback

The feedback box is formatted for you. You can anter a custom email address that will receive results.
