Located in the heart of campus on the lower level of the Undergraduate Library, the MDC offers a research level media collection on DVD, Blu-Ray and streaming online.
Center staff are available to provide instruction on visual literacy, media literacy and digital media production.
Staff also provide assignment support for a wide range of media projects including (but not limited to) - film pitch, video essay, short doc or film, PSA, campaign ad, mashup, pop-up video, vlog, podcast, field interview, remix, scene interpretation - adaptation or analysis, spoken word or song.
Research consults and filmography sessions are available upon request.

Use UNC’s subscription to Lynda.com to find online tutorials for students to learn at their own pace (courses are divided into short video segments) and on their own time. Shorter (~30 minutes), moderate (~4 hours), and longer (6-12 hours) courses are available for Adobe software, general design principles, infographics, GIS, media production, and more -- you can search/browse thousands of tutorials--completely free for students, faculty, and staff.
The MDC has a variety of equipment available for checkout to UNC students, faculty, and staff. All equipment is available to checkout for 2 days (over 2 nights) to anyone with an active UNC One Card. You can schedule equipment checkout by calling the MDC at (919) 962-2559, coming by, or e-mailing the MDC at mediadc@unc.edu.
