This is a guide for Allied Health Sciences faculty, with a focus on resources for new/junior faculty, mid-career faculty, and their mentors. It is also a broad, one-stop-shop for faculty at all levels.

Introduction

DAHS Faculty are served by both School of Medicine (SOM) IT and University (campus) IT Services (ITS).

UNC School of Medicine (SOM) IT overview

UNC SOM IT (formerly OIS/Office of Information Systems)--School of Medicine group

  • Services include Applications and Web Development, A/V Engineering, Classroom Support, End-User Support, Information Security Services, Instructional Media Services, Lecture Capture, Network Support, Room Reservations/Scheduling, Server Support, Videoconferencing.  There is a fee structure for many services.

    • includes chat and walk-in (65 MacNider; moving to 137 MacNider Fall, 2019)

Securing the School of Medicine Network:  The School of Medicine is committed to providing users with a secure computing environment. We take multi-tiered approach to protecting the network and use several tools:  Laptop Encryption, Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) and Network Access Controls (NAC).  We also recently implemented a hardware firewall for the School of Medicine.
