Library Data Services
Library Data Services caters to researchers interested in working with data, mapping, texts, visualization, and technology. Many of these services are available online. Davis Library Data Services, located on the second floor of Davis Library, offers:
- A computing lab with specialized software for GIS and data visualization & analysis.
- Walk-in assistance provided by knowledgeable student consultants during set hours.
- Consultations with specialists for more in-depth inquiries (by appointment).
- Spaces for collaboration and presentation, complete with white boards and external displays.
- Technology short courses and programs that promote digital scholarship.

- NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy (UNC HSL)This guide from the UNC Health Sciences Library covers the new NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy effective January 25, 2023. It includes an overview of the policy, templates and tools for creating NIH DMS Plans, and data repositories.
- Implementation of Public Access Programs in Federal Agencies (CENDI)The Commerce, Energy, NASA, Defense Information Managers Group (CENDI) is collecting information on Federal Agency plans and guidance for implementation of Public Access. The site, which has been mentioned as a source for this material by the Office of Science and Technology Policy, will capture information as it is released to the public by agencies. Sections on Public Access Plans of U.S. Federal Agencies, as well as Award Dates Covered Under Public Access Policies for Publication and for Data Management Plans are available.

- Summary Spreadsheet of Federal Agency GuidelinesThis is a crowd-sourced table that summarizes and and consolidates guidelines from federal agencies related to their plans for facilitating public access to results from the research funded within each agency. These "Public Access Plans" are the result of a US Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) memorandum that was published in February 2013. The spreadsheet is largely maintained by academic library-based data specialists, but all are welcome to use it, contribute to it, and share it.
