Design thinking is a multi-step, human-centered approach to problem-solving that focuses on finding solutions to problems by identifying and addressing user needs. Design thinking is one framework you might use to guide a project from the brainstorming stage to final prototypes. Another related process is the engineering design process. Both processes can be applied to many types of projects, not only those in the fields of engineering or industrial design. With collaborative spaces, tools, and materials available, the Kenan Science Library Makerspace can support projects at all steps of design thinking.
