Equipment Room @ MEJO: Community Standards & Policies

Updates for Fall 2020

We are mindful of health & safety protocols, so some things have changed in terms of how the Park Library helps students in the upcoming semester.
The following changes have been made for the Fall 2020 semester:

  1.  If you leave campus before the end of the semester, you MUST make arrangements to return equipment by the week before the start of the Spring 2021 semester. As of August 10, 2020, this date is December 29, 2020.
  2.  We will notify you and your instructor if you still have gear out during the last week of classes.
  3. Gear returns are by appointment. Make arrangements to return gear here. All gear is still due on its due date.
  4. No renewals.
  5. Gear will be quarantined for three days after its return. Gear in quarantine will not be available for check out.

Equipment Room Guidelines

Community Standards

The Equipment Room is a community resource with expectations that all community users will adhere to set standards.

User shall abide by the Equipment Room Community Standards and Guidelines. Standards may include, but are not limited to:

  • Returning equipment by the due date
  • Returning untangled cords and cables
  • Arriving on time for a scheduled pick-up
  • Properly caring for equipment while checked out
  • Reporting damaged or lost gear immediately to the Equipment Room manager. Users are financially responsible for equipment checked out in their name and must reimburse the MJ-school for the cost of repairing or replacing damaged or lost gear.

When students don’t support these standards, they adversely affect others who need to use the same equipment. 

Who can use the equipment room?

The equipment room supports MEJO coursework. Students have permission to reserve equipment specific to the classes they are registered for that semester.

Other MEJO students may check out equipment based on availability and if authorized by an instructor. 

Warning System

Return gear on time to avoid getting a warning. 

  • If gear is two days late, you will get a warning. Both you and your instructor will receive email notice of the warning.
  • You are allowed two warnings per semester.
  • Your third warning will result in a one-week suspension from using the Equipment Room.
