I work as the content, editorial and technical manager for NC Health Info and NC Health Literacy. I also coordinate communications at the Health Sciences Library (HSL).
Shortly after moving from New York City to North Carolina in 2007, I started working for NC Health Info while studying for my MS at UNC’s School of Information and Library Science. I immediately felt at home in HSL’s stimulating environment. I knew that if the opportunity were to present itself in the future, I’d return in a heartbeat.
After a number of years working as a corporate law librarian and academic research coordinator, I was thrilled when I received an offer to return to HSL and work with NC Health Info. I feel passionately about empowering people to make informed decisions about their health. NCHI is an online consumer health guide that does just that. I also believe health care professionals share a responsibility in promoting health literacy. Whereas NCHI serves the needs of consumers, NC Health Literacy is a resource for health care professionals. Combined, these two resources serve as a powerful tool to support the mission of the HSL, namely to connect people everywhere with knowledge to improve health.
