Choosing a Citation Manager: Switching Citation Managers

There are several reasons you want to move your collection of references:

• You want to share references with someone who uses a different citation manager
• You don't like the features of the citation manager you are currently using
• You are coming to UNC from another school and want to transfer your research
• You are using a university-sponsored citation manager but are leaving the UNC or graduating

In most cases, you will want to export an RIS or XML file of references in your current citation manager and import it into your new citation manager.
