A Guide to Researching Campus Monuments and Buildings Library GuideThis guide is designed for researchers interested in the origins and controversy surrounding monuments on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Resources related to the "Silent Sam" Confederate Memorial, the two Caldwell Monuments, "The Student Body" Statue, and the Unsung Founders Memorial are listed in this guide. These resources include books, articles, photographs, and archival resources from the collections in Wilson Special Collections Library. In addition to the four major monuments, the final tab lists resources on the history of UNC-Chapel Hill and its campus. This may be useful for researchers interested in other campus landmarks or buildings. As an example, the final tab also lists resources for researching the history behind Carolina Hall (formerly known as Saunders Hall). Tips for locating additional resources are also provided throughout.
