LGBTQ+ Legal Assistance

  • EqualityNC - "[T]he oldest statewide organization in the country dedicated to securing rights and protections for the LGBTQ community." This organization focuses on anti-violence, racial justice, nondiscrimination, protecting youth, and HIV/AIDS work.
  • Lambda Legal North Carolina - A legal advocacy organization that fights for LGBTQ community members' rights, including in employment, families, health care, HIV, criminal justice, transgender rights, immigration and more.
  • Campaign for Southern Equality North Carolina - This site provides information about acquiring medical or attorney referrals. It also links to information about knowing and protecting your rights and about changing your name and gender marker.
  • Human Rights Campaign North Carolina - HRC advocates locally, nationally and globally for LGBTQ people. Its HRC Foundation provides programs to directly work with individuals and organizations on research, transforming institutions and communities, and strengthening community advocacy.
