Using Generative AI for Library Research

In addition to using a tool such as UNC's MS 365 Copilot Chat (with data protection) for such tasks as assistance brainstorming search terms and potential library literature databases for your topic, you may enjoy exploring various AI-assisted tools for library research, such as Consensus (additional info: Generative AI & Other Tools) or Undermind, which your fellow students have found productive.Start with the free version of tools or check to see if the UNC Library AI Studio (opening soon) as access. Note any limits to free versions.

Always check with your instructor and syllabus about appropriate use and documentation of AI and generative AI tools, and keep track of all such use carefully. Report your use fully and transparently. Also see other UNC guidance, such as Using Generative AI Appropriately (PDF from ai.unc.edu).
