Journal TOC Alerts from Journal Websites

To set up a TOC alert from a journal website, do the following:

  1. Search for a specific journal or browse journals by subject to find a journal of interest.
  2. Visit the journal's homepage, and look for a link to "E-Alert Sign Up" or "Issue Alert." Some publishers will ask you to create a username and password, while other publishers simply ask you to provide an email address. Below is an example of wording to look for (from the Journal of Dental Research published by Sage).

Journal TOC Alerts from Databases

You can also create email search alerts for results published in a specific journal. To do that:

  1. Search for a specific journal or browse journals by subject to find a journal of interest.
  2. In a database (e.g., PubMed, Embase, Scopus), search for the journal name and use a field tag for "journal". Below is an example in PubMed.
  3. Follow the instructions on the "Search/Topic Alerts" page of this guide to create a search alert in whichever database you chose.
