Working with LibApps (HSL): Chat

Getting Access to Chat

HSL uses LibraryH3lp as a chat system.  Please contact Beth Moreton to get an account.  You can install Pidgin yourself or put in a help ticket and our computer support team will install Pidgin on your computer.

Chat Settings

To set up Pidgin:

Select the XMPP protocol

Enter your username and password (usually your Onyen and password chat2022)

For domain, enter libraryh3lp.com

Idle/away time:

In the Tools menu, select Preferences.  You'll want to change the settings for the Status/Idle tab to ensure that you do not accidentally stay logged in when you have walked away from your computer.  Some users set this to 5 minutes, but you can choose whatever length of time you prefer.

Chat Schedule

To view the Chat Schedule, go into Outlook's calendar tab.  Select Open Calendar and then From Address Book.
