Welcome!

Welcome to UNC Chapel Hill!  As a researcher, you will find lots of resources and help through the Health Sciences Library.  Take a look around and see some of what we have to offer.  Be sure to check out our HSL New Users guide to get oriented to the library or check out our Library Orientation videos!  For general information about program guidelines and videos about searching for articles in nursing, see the Scholarly Works tab.

Visit our Ask A Librarian page if you need assistance!

Need an ONYEN?

Your UNC username, your ONYEN (the Only Name You'll Ever Need), gives you access to the research databases available through UNC Libraries. Visit the ONYEN services site to create an ONYEN or to reset your password.

  1. Go to the UNC ONYEN Services site.
  2. Click "Create and Onyen (or claim one that was created for you)."
  3. Locate your PID number.
    • All UNCH employees have a PID number which is located on your parking swipe card—do NOT confuse with your EID number.
    • If you cannot find your PID number, click on the "forgot option" and you will be able to look it up.
  4. Once you have your PID number, complete the rest of the Self Identification form and hit submit.
  5. Follow the prompts to create your Onyen.
  6. The process will take you through choosing a password.
    • When you chose your password, it must pass the campus's regulations, so this may take a few tries to have one that passes the test.
    • HINT: The password is cap sensitive, so write it down so you do not forget.
