Sciwheel (formerly F1000 Workspace)

Access Full Text Articles via Proxy Server

To Find Proxy Settings Information from Within F1000Workspace:

  • Sign in to F1000 and go to your Workspace
  • Click HELP button top right
  • Select “Working with References” category on the left
  • Scroll down and select “Accessing full text articles via a proxy server”

A proxy server allows you to access articles as if you were inside your institution. If you are from a subscribing institution then your proxy URL might already have been set automatically.

Alternatively, you can insert your institution’s proxy server information manually:  F1000 account menu

  • Sign in to F1000 and go to your Workspace
  • Click your initials in the top right corner of the main F1000Workspace site (you will need to be signed in).
  • Click My Account in the menu that appears
  • Navigate to the Proxy settings section. You can insert the Proxy URL for your institute here.
    • UNC Chapel Hill:$@
      • ‚ÄčNote that you do not click on or navigate to this URL--you enter it as the proxy URL setting as described above.
    • You can check for UNC’s and many others here:

F1000 Proxy settings

  • Be sure to click SAVE to keep the proxy code in your account.

The proxy code will allow the Institutional Access button on each article listing to function just like the Find@UNC button.  It will connect you to our subscriptions.  If you are unable to connect to an article, you may need to request the item through Interlibrary Loan.
