Sciwheel: Legacy Guide: Google Docs Add-on

The Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) add-on for Google Docs is similar to the Word plugin - it allows you to insert citations and bibliographies into your Google Doc from your Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) account. The add-on also allows you to search PubMed from the Google Docs interface.

To install from within Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel):

• Click on the Tools dropdown menu and select "Google Docs Add-on"
• Follow the instructions 

OR, to install from within a Google Doc, click the Add-ons dropdown menu and select "Get Add-ons." You may have to search for the Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) Add-on.

• If you do not have a Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) account, you will be prompted to create one before you can use the add-on.
• If you do have an account, you'll be asked to sign in.

For help using Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) with Google Docs or for troubleshooting, go to the HELP guide within Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) and select Google Docs tab on the left.  Alternatively, you can access it directly from the Google Docs topic in the online Help guide.  

Open the Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) add-on and select Insert citations from the menu. Within the Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) panel you can select references to cite from among those you have saved in Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel). You can click Cite to insert them into your document or click the title of an individual reference to see the abstract. Please note that citations will appear in a generic author/date style until you format your citations and bibliography.

The Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) panel, as shown above, may now say "Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel)" instead of "F1000."  

Clicking this option in the Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) dropdown menu will allow you to choose the citation style for your in-text citations and bibliography, Be aware that changing the style of your document can take a while--after choosing your style, do not try to click around even if nothing seems to be changing. Just give it some time. Clicking will end up messing up the formatting you are trying to change.

This is a unique feature of the Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel) Google Docs Add-in, which allows you to link your document to one of your projects in Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel). Linking the document to a project will allow you to view the notes you've stored in that project. If you add new citations to your document, they will be automatically added to your project on Lean Library Workspace (Sciwheel).
