Crafting in the MakerSpace

Crafting

We have a large collection of crafting supplies, ranging from textile crafting materials to paint and print making supplies. Below is a general overview of what we have in our space but is not a complete list. If you have any questions, please visit us in person and take a look around!

Printmaking Supplies

Interested in getting started with print making? We have the supplies available to help you start your journey! In the MakerSpace, we have: printmaking inks, linoleum blocks, printing brayers, and already-made stamps. 

Painting Supplies

A drawer filled with painting supplies, such as various paint colors, small paint palettes, and paint brushes.

Need to paint a 3D print, or do you want to take a moment to relax and paint a picture? We have supplies ready-to-use! These supplies include: acrylic paint in a variety of colors, paint brushes, painter's tape, small palettes, and containers for paint water.

Textile Art Supplies

In addition to a Janome sewing machine, the MakerSpace has more supplies to get you started in the textile arts. These supplies include: knitting needles, yarn, and embroidery floss. We also have beading supplies, including beads in assorted sizes and colors as well as spools of stringing cord.

Tools

We have a wide range of tools in the MakerSpace to help you as you work on your projects! Listed below is an overview of what we have available:

Assorted Hand-Held Tools

We have wide variety of sizes of Allen wrenches and screw drivers perfect for electronic work, as well as pliers, digital calipers, and a vice-grip clamp. The tools are located in labeled drawers under the 3D printers.

Button Maker

The Tecre button maker is a manual machine that can make 1 1/4 in round buttons. If you are interested in having a button maker for an event, you can check it out for 24 hours. Let us know and we'll help you with the check-out process!

Dremel

The Dremel is a multi-function rotary tool with different tool attachments. With this tool, you can sand, cut, grind, engrave, and polish. The Demel kit includes several tool attachments that screw onto the Dremel as well as a circle cutter and straight edge guide.

Heaterizer XL-3000 Heat Gun

The Heaterizer XL-3000 heat gun is a handheld device that blows out a stream of hot air. The temperature of the nozzle heats up to around 250 ℃ (482 °F). This heat gun is perfect for shrinking heat-shrink, melting things, and very basic low temp solder rework.

Hot Glue Gun

The hot glue gun is a hand-held tool that heats up solid glue and applies it in a controllable stream. The glue gun can be used for crafting, wordworking, and more!

Hot Knife

The hot knife is an electric tool with a heated blade. This tool is perfect for cutting any synthetic (man-made) materials. However, there are five items that you will want to avoid cutting with this tool: cotton, cotton blends, vinyl, wool, and leather. Using a hot knife ensures that you get a clean cut that is sealed completely.

Steam Advantage Iron

A clothing iron is used to remove wrinkles or creases from cloth. This steam advantage iron allows you to both iron cloth and steam it using the smart steam function. We have an ironing board available for use with the iron.

Telescope

Have you ever wanted to take a telescope out at night to look the stars? We have one available for checkout in the Library MakerSpace! Let MakerSpace staff know you are interested and we will walk you through the checkout process.
