What is in this guide?

This guide provides resources for conducting research in political science.  The resources included are both informational and data-oriented in nature.  Many are available online to UNC students, faculty, and affiliates.

This guide contains the following sections:

  • General Sources - go here if you are just getting started or if you're still finding a good topic.
  • United States - resources related to politics in the United States, including information related to federal and state government and foreign relations.
  • Congress - resources about Congress and its members, the legislative process, and access to the full text of many Congressional documents.
  • Elections - resources related to the electoral process in the United States, election data, and campaign information.
  • International Politics - information about international governing bodies such as the UN and the European Union as well as other resources related to international policy.
  • Scholarly Articles and News includes databases for finding scholarly articles in political science and resources for finding both current and historical news via print and media sources.
  • Selected Data & Statistics - starting place for political and social science data resources
