Searching EBSCO Databases: CINAHL, PsycInfo, & Global Health: Citing and Exporting Results

Created by Health Science Librarians

Citing Individual Results

To export citations for your results, click on the article you wish to cite. Then click on the quotation mark icon to the right above the title (see red box in screenshot below).

In the pop-up window, select a citation style from the dropdown menu. You can then copy and paste the citation by selecting "Copy to clipboard" (see red box in screenshot below).

Note: This citation information is usually but not always correct, so we recommend double checking it against a citation guide or your own knowledge before relying on it for an assignment or publication.

Exporting Citations

Additionally, you can export citations to a citation manager software (e.g., EndNote, Lean Library Workspace, or Zotero). Rather than obtaining the citation directly from the database, you will have access to the article and its citation within your citation manager. This is useful if you are compiling resources from multiple sources or need to access your citations easily at a later point.

To export results, select the arrow next to the checkbox that is found above the results on the left (see red box in the screenshot below) and select "Export results."

Then, you will be prompted to log into your MyEBSCO account. You can also create a new account, which can be used across EBSCOhost databases. Although you do not have to use your UNC email, it is recommended that you sign up with your UNC account. This will help ensure you maintain access through UNC affiliation.

After logging in, you will be prompted to enter your email and select a format for export (see image below). To export citations to a reference manager, select "RIS" for format.

You will then receive an email with a link to download the RIS file. Upload the RIS file to your citation manager to access the citations.
