Using LibGuides: Troubleshooting Guides

Copy/Paste Formatting Errors

Often, when you create a guide, you copy text from another source (a website, Word document, or something else). If you select text and copy/paste it into your guide, the formatting of the original will carry over into your Libguide.

This is not what you want, since it will override the styles of our guides.

An easy way to solve this is to use the Remove Format button. After you paste formatted text into your guide, highlight that text and click the button that looks like a T with a small x next to it. This will remove the formatting so that our stylesheets will take over, allowing your text to appear in the correct style.

Missing Guide Content

If a mapped asset that used to be in your guide is no longer appearing, it is possible that the original asset that you mapped has been deleted. This is why it is important to map assets from reusable asset guides rather than mapping assets from individual user-facing guides. If you are missing an asset, you can recreate that asset in the appropriate reusable asset guide, and then map the new asset from the reusable guide to your user-facing guide.

Contact User Experience with Complex Problems

If you encounter a problem in LibGuides that is not addressed in this guide, please file a service ticket with the User Experience department. If needed, UX will contact Springshare to resolve the problem.
