Market Research Basics: Track Down "Who Cares"

"Who cares?"

Who are the organizations or individuals who care about a given industry?

Industry or trade associations and government regulators are two examples of types of organizations who care.

Here's a couple of examples:

  • Industry associationsGoogle search results list
    • Google "industry name + association + site:.org"
    • Example: restaurant association site:.org
  • Government regulators
    • For restaurants, think of the local Public Health agency or the Food & Drug Administration (FDA)
    • Google "industry name + government regulators" to identify options.

Once you find these organizations, look on their websites for sections called News, Reports, Resources, Education, etc. Some of these resources will only be available to members of the trade/industry association, but many will be available for free.
